How do i Start Instant messenging on the New Messenger?

I Downloaded the new messenger and tried to start im's and it did not do NOTHING, i am on this thing daily and now i can't be on untill i figure this out, please i need HELP

Simply double click the left mouse button on the usename of those you wish to IM. If that does not work you may have downloaded a corrupt file and will need to re-install the program from scratch.
