The BIOS (or CMOS they are both the same!) is the Basic Input/Output System. Amongst other very important things, this BIOS will start to load the Operating System (OS). The BIOS is a form of ROM (Read Only Memory), usually EEPROM otherwise called flash memory. However the OS is held on the hard disk and so must be loaded into RAM (Random Access Memory) as ROM cannot be written to ordinarily (flash memory can be rewritten only by using special programs and is not convienient enough for regular use). So the answer to your question is RAM when the OS command is being used (this is why any computer system will always report a lower figure of free RAM (memory) than the total physical amount installed). If the OS commands are not in use then they are not held in any form of memory but on the hard disk.

CMOS. It is a type of permanent memory that holds the BIOS so that even when the computer is turned off the loading instructions are not lost. It is totally separate from the memory used by everything else on your computer.

It's the BIOS (Basic Input Output System). This is the bit at the beginning of the PC start up. You can get into this by pressing Del (Delete) at the beginning of a PC boot-up to gain access to the BIOS. Don't change anything unless you know what you're doing!

ROM - read-only memory - holds enough to get the operating system running, usually form the hard disk

then

the operating system runs in RAM - random-access memory

I think it the BIOS flash controls the input and output commands. And the CMOS controls the system clock, drives and other operating commands.
