Open a command prompt and type "ping 64.233.187.99". This is one of google.com's IP addresses. If you get a reply, you have a physical connection to the internet. If not, you are not connected. If you get a reply, then type "ping google.com". If you get a reply to the IP address, but not the name, your DNS is set incorrectly. Your internet connection consists of the NIC card in your computer, the cable (or wireless broadcast) from there to your modem or router, and from there to your ISP.
Open start-control panel-network connections. Double-click your network connection, click on the support tab and then the "repair" button. Windows will try to fix it for you. If that fails, from a command prompt type "ipconfig /release", then "ipconfig /renew". If you get an IP address starting with 169, you're not getting DHCP. Reboot your router/modem and try again.

three things you can look at.
Under tools: internet options: conenctions tab; make sure your still set to never dail a connection (from one of your previous posts you mentioned you had problems with your system dialing instead of using your broadband)
Under the file menu : if you have the option "work offline", make sure there is not a check in front of it. If you have this option and there is a check seledct it to remove the check.
The last is where you are searching from - try searching from somewhere else - for example if you are using yahoo or the yahoo toolbar browse to www.google.com and search from there. (or if you use goolge, try yahoo)
If you're still stuck and need further help, feel free to email me.

Have you checked your internet connection? One thing that can cause this problem is incorrect DNS settings. To check them, open Network Connections, right click your net connection, and click properties. Now double click the item called Internet Protocol. Your ISP should be able to provide the correct DNS addresses.

It means that you are not connected to the Internet, or that the firewall is blocking you access. Check that you have a physical connection to the Internet - that nothing got unplugged. Then trying turning off you firewall for a minute to see if you can connect. If you can, then you need to reset your firewall settings.
