If you need the PC to be portable, buying a laptop. If not, a desktop is cheaper. If you only want to watch movies, buy a DVD players of a fraction of the cost of either.

don't buy a laptop, you can buy a pc for the same price that will last twice as long, and will have double the memory and ram. unless portability is a real big issue for you, pc's are the way to go. Get a computer with windows media center edition and a tv tuner. you can pause live tv, and record shows right on to your pc. for a few bucks more you can get a nice remote for it, and have a nice set up. fo the tv, make sure you get an lcd. plasmas run the risk of burning an image on the screen. you can buy a polaroid or an lg 37-42 inch lcd for 1200-1700 dollars depending on where you buy it. As for the pc, you can get a nice dual core windows media center computer with 320 gigs of hard drive space, and 2 gigs of ram. which is quite a lot if you are not computer lingo savy, for 800-1200 bucks.

Desktop and flatscreen TV with PC input
your Biggest concern here will be Disk Space. These are much easier to upgrade and can be alot cheaper. Also with a DVD burner everything from Block Buster is on a Rent to Own contract... you rent it and you own it.
good Luck!

this generally ability it has a vga port (usual computer screen connector) on it you purely could desire to purchase a male to male vga cable and plug it in. pay attention although maximum tvs can not help intense resolutions and generally your television wont teach maximum startup monitors hence bios enhancing would be perplexing. id continuously desire a computer screen to a television yet whilst its a crap computer screen shop it to a minimum of one part dont depend completely on your television. in case you twin boot or multiboot it extremely isn't any longer a reccomended selection until your portraits card could have 2 video demonstrate instruments so which you would be able to connect the television as a secondary. or get a vga splitter cable. your television will in all probability have a hdmi port on aswell and doubtless dvi, your computer could have dvi so in the journey that your television and computer have dvi get a dvi cable in the journey that your computer have dvi positioned your computer would not get a dvi-vga or dvi-hdmi converter and get the mandatory cables
