Always look at the ones spot first, then the amount of cents. Because half of one dollar is 50 cents, anything that's 49 cents and below gets rounded to the original number. Anything that is 50 cents or higher gets rounded to the next number up.
I'll give you several examples.
1) $1.25 = $1.00 (because 25 cents is less than 50 cents)
2) $1.75 = $2.00 (because 75 cents is more than 50 cents)
(anything over 50 cents gets rounded up)
3) $32.35 = $32.00 (because 35 cents is less than 50 cents)
4) $32.76 = $33.00 (because 76 cents is more than 50 cents)
I hope this helps. Cheers, K

Rounding to the nearest dollar is this simple. Anything over .50 is counted as a dollar.

if the dollar amount has a fraction of .50 cents or more, round up ex. $1.51 is $2.00 and if it has a fraction of .49 or less you round down ex. $1.49 is $1.00 or $5.32 is $5.00

If it's .50 cents or more you round up
anything lower than .50 cents you round down
Say you had $4.73, you would round up to $5.00

because there are not any cents, they could proceed to be as you indexed them above. if you're asking what they could be rounded to the nearest thousandth, it must be $17,000 and $a million,253,000.

If it is under $0.50, drop the cents.
If it is $0.50 or more, drop the cents and add $1

If it were $2.50, you'd round to $3
If it were $2.49, you'd round to $2
Get it?
