I am bi-racial and I get tired of people trying to walk that "tight-rope" around me. If I can joke about having a ghetto booty and better rhythm than my white girlfriend, why can't they laugh? It's funny. As for the government's part, the more concentrated we are at looking toward each other, the less attention we are paying to the officials in office. So my answer is YES. I get annoyed.

If people are not actually bothered, then there is no reason for them to be offended. I am in ethnic minority myself, and I do feel that British goverment tries too hard, and too much.
Personally, I have never had a problem being non-white person. And I do think that goverment should not try extra hard to be politically correct. Racism should not be accepted. Yes. But all goverment seems to be doing is simply to make the division more visible, by coming up with all different nonsense about ehtnic minorities.
But at the end of the day, society - as in people - have to learn to live with each other, and accept people for who they are, and not by their religion or skin colour. If more people were tolerent of others' differences, this world would be a much better place.

I do think that all this political correctness is getting out of hand. Most of the time one can tell when a comment was made to offend and when a joke or a comment was made just to be funny. I'm a Mexican-American and for the most part, I don't get offended easily. Usually I find that if a comment is made that was meant to offend, other people (not Latinos) jump on the comment quicker than I do!

Can you give any examples? I thought about your question for a long time and I can't think of when someone told me when to be offended. I can assure you that I know when someone is offensive--even if they don't have insight--or may not understand that they are. It's not being politically correct that's important. . .it's just gaining more insight as to what may offend others.

i think the PC brigade and a lot of politicians are closet racists and that's why they come out with the pathetic crap they do i don't think anyone expects the word black to be outlawed from the English language if someone is black they know what colour they are i`m sort of white but a bit of a Heinz 57 and i couldn't care less what colour any one thinks i am no one in there right mind would think nursery kids singing baa baa black sheep was aimed at them my brother is a lot darker than me and when we were kids we used to call him a black Eskimo because he stuck his head in the freezer once trying to kill him self(or so he said)so i bet were a bunch of racists as well

YES....yes...yes....I am so glad that you have a similar opinion. I could never really put it in such simple words but always felt that the government just complicates a lot of things and makes huge issues out of nothing. Guess, they don't have much to do and thus keep on instigating people against each other. What a waste !
And hey, thanks for saying it in such simple words. Have a nice day!
