Women biologically have to be more selective. Women only have a limited number of eggs, 9 months of pregnancy and 18 years of child rearing.
Men have countless sperm therefore we can biologically reproduce more often.
Women have a huge investment into each child. They need to know the man will be there for the long haul. Often women marry the very trustworthy man and then have several affairs during the marriage. They have the insurance at home and then can go find someone more "fun".

Simply because life is more diverse than ever, more stressful than ever, more competitive than ever and as such our choices in life must reflect this. First thing that springs to mind is that women just don't want to make a mistake with their choice of partner ..... with the pressures of life vere increasing so does the need for a well matched/suitable partner. And the way that we view things, our very emotions, are becoming more sophisticated. Oh and choice in every walk of life is also becoming ever more wide and varied.... choosing a partner is just mirroring this.
One more thing, with increasing life stresses, relationships fail more frequently and faster ..... being more selective about a partner is simply trying to minimise that risk!

Some of my friends are far from choosy, i'd actually say it was more the other way round to be honest, women panic more about becoming old spinsters with cats.........
