Does loving someone, or being loved have value in itself? Does it have to be mutual? Is there any value of love in itself, or is it just in the things love brings?

Yes, having the capacity to love others makes you a better person. It helps you to grow emotionally and spiritually. It helps you to prepare for when you meet someone special who can return that love.

Yes.Yes Yes Of course it does..........What things can it bring if you're not loved in return. I thought it could be dealt with alone, but I was so very wrong. It does have value in itself but it does not bring "things" as you call them without togetherness. Even GOD'S love for us can't be benefited by us, unless we return that love. He loves us unconditionally but we don't feel it if we don't understand and share in it......
