All those people who said that bettas (pronounced bet-tah, not bay-tah) kill everything and cannot be with anything else are only passing on what some idiot has told them. Bettas are quite non-agressive except with other male bettas. The only thing you should watch out for are agressive or fin nipping other fish.
The serpae is a good choice for a betta tank mate. They are pretty little fish and not agressive. You should probably get at least three serpaes, they are schooling fish and need some buddies. The betta is solitary and will keep to himself.
I hope you have a heater and filter in the tank, they are both tropical fish and need 74-78 degree temp. Also, do your regular (weekly) partial (25-30%) water changes to keep the ammonia, nitrites and nitrates from building to toxic levels.

reliable for you for upgrading him to the appropriate homestead. I advise corries for buddies. They stay on the backside. you may divide it and use it for 2 Male Bettas. they choose 5 gallons a bite so it may be suitable. even however have not got self belief that they do in comparison to dissimilar area. Mine is in a 50 gallon community tank and LOVES it. And sure they fit with different fish merely no longer Male Betta's or different bettas or fish that look like betta's (guppies and the comparable).

I had a Betta in 20 gallon tank for 3 years and he did fine. You just can't put Betta's in with other Betta's. They are beautiful fish and will generally do well with other species of fish even ones that are not aggressive. I had Angel fish molly's and an algae eater and the Betta was a nice addition to the tank.
Good Luck

Actually, ther are few fish that a betta cannot go with. Just be careful that the red miner doesn't start nipping the betta's fins

no, bettas have to alone, unless its a female, but your probably talking about a male because thoose are the pretty ones. females are ugly and sold with the regular fish.
you dont need a 10 gallon tank for a betta, but they do like a little room to swim around. try a 1 gallon, dont use one that holds 2 cups of water

NO bettas are the pit bulls of the fish bowl...they are very agressive and will kill another fish.sometimes a male will kill the female...you can put a mirror in the fish bowl and they will attack it...try a small divider tank...were you can put two fish in ...even in that a betta will try to attack...they like small containers and dont do well in a larger tank...

Yeah, a betta will only attack other bettas. Even females of the species! They're great with goldfish.

NO. But if you like watching the beta kill other fish you can. Beta's ARE NOT community fish, they MUST be in a tank by themselves. And Beta's will kill each other also. Makes you wonder how they breed, but the female will be docile for a short time to breed.
