Doesn't it seem like hardcore pro-death penalty people almost seem to have violent tendencies themselves?

If the death penalty was seen as being akin to euthanasia, I would be for it, but people see it as revenge, and I don't think a civilized society should spill blood for blood. It's an offense to humanity.

I don't have an angry bone in my body and the closest thing i have to violent tendencies is to squash a spider in my house... But i fully support the death penalty, some people deserve to die. Why should you get to live when you take a life or hurt a child?
I have never had someone in my life murdered or raped or anything like that so I'm not out for revenge!!!
The only offence in a civilised society is to not give all these criminals the proper punishment!
Obviously though the death penalty is only for the most serious of crimes and if we are 100% certain that the person who has been committed is the one who did the crime!

Some of the most gentle and non-violent people I know are in favour of capital punishment.

Some of the most violent people I know are against it.

So no, I don't agree with you about that. Which means you are mistaken :o)

However, I do remain strongly opposed to the death penalty. Which may seem strange because I am quite capable of being very violent myself.

The reason for this is simply that once you kill somebody you can't make them suffer any more. And if I hate somebody enough to want them dead, I hate them more than enough to keep them alive and in a state of the most inhuman misery and suffering.

The death penalty is for the lightweights who deal in mercy.

I can think of much better ways of damaging those who qualify for execution before they finally expire of their own accord.

I like the idea of revenge very much indeed.

Some are CONFUSED Christians that forget the teachings of their religious Messiah, JC. Some are those that have been victims, some are those that lost someone to a criminal and some are just piss-poor cowards. NOT ONE has ever considered that taking a life ain't gonna do jack to bring back a victim OR that the person they condemned may be innocent and killing that person will still leave the real killer (criminal) out in the streets committing more crimes or murders... they forget that "Vengeance is mine SAYETH THE LORD" means that they are not to seek vengeance, that vengeance is NOT Christian-like. It goes against their Commandments "Thou shalt not kill." It is misguided hatred.

There's also the issue that the VAST majority of criminals in Death Row are minority members, while too many of those that murdered and got life in prison were White... where is this justice and fair... seems a bit racist to many of us.

Euthanasia is the merciful taking of life to prevent further suffering of someone who has no chance of living anyway. Not to be confused in any way, shape or form with executions. WE show mercy and we called ourselves humane when we kill an animal that is suffering and in pain... but we do not practice this humanity toward our fellow human beings or our loved ones...

Death penalty, executions, or Capital Punishment... is nothing more than revenge; it is not a deterrent to any kinds of crime, as proven so many times over that it is ridiculous. I do not understand how anyone who advocates Pro-Life can say that they are pro-Capital Punishment, pro-executions, which is pro-killing... it is oxymoronic, period.

Agreed, the people who staunchly support it were the nerds and do nothings back in the day that got picked on. Not the ones that got picked on and did something, no these folks are not pro-active or else they would be out murdering for justice. These are the tards who got picked on there whole lives and went home a played D&D in the garage until they bashed the daylights out of a gnome with a +6 vorpal blade. Now that they are adults, they want revenge, oh yeah. Fry those bastards they cry! Also known as Republicans.

No, and I although I don't want to put any innocent men to death, if it is a proven fact that they are guilty then I think that away they should go. Although I think that lethal injection may be letting them off too easy, but so is life in prison, I mean have you seen some of the amenities in these joints?! I think that they should die in the same way that their victims did, set on fire, tortured, etc. It is only fair and just!

I can't say that all of them are angrier. But I think if my family member was murderer by someone, It would be really hard for me not to be angry and for the death penalty. I struggle with this sometimes, because I believe it is not our decision but God's what to do with these people who commit these horrific crimes. But, as a society what if we don't anything, no governing the criminals, then they run free to create havoc and choas a.k.a murder.

Well I was for it until I read the studies about how many innocent people are convicted. So in some cases, people who are for it might not be angrier, but less educated about how frequently our legal system makes mistakes.

People who are for it generally ask, "Wouldnt you want the killer to die if your (mother/father/son/daughter/ect) was murdered?". I've realized thats not a valid question becaues it assumes the person convicted of the crime is actually the one who commited it.

as sad as it is, violence anger and war are human nature.

Even if we were all one race and culture, we'd find something else to kill each other over.
