Flowerchild - it has been proved that the uranium-from-Niger connection was a red herring. Chemical weapons and Kurds? That was one of the biggest hypocrisies in the whole thing. The chemical weapons were developed thanks to American military help, and the whole chain of events which led to that awful killing was quite disgusting:

Americans encouraging local resistance and promising help -> people resurrecting -> US doing absolutely nothing to support the freedom fighters-> Saddam intervening and wiping all the opposition out . The same thing happened with Kurds, then Marsh Arabs and Shia Muslims. It was amazing how the US goverment helped Saddam in this way to identify his opponents, so that he could kill them and torture them. No surprise then, that when the dictorship collapsed America had no local opposition which could help them to lead the country towards democracy. The revolotion in Central Europe was possible withou any bloodshed only because the local people did that with their own hands with only limited help from the West

What about Saddam's own general who said there was WMD's, and terror training? No coverage? How about his nuclear expert's two known trips to Niger for Uranium, their only product.. What say the kurds in the mass chemical graves?
