I am new... how do you change levels?

1. do you ask so many questions?
2.do you get so many points?
3. are you a member for so long?

1) By getting points, you go up levels. YOu get points for answering question, by having your answers chosen as best answer to a question, and also by being rated with a thumbs up. Also, I think you get 1 point for giving a thumbs up to an answer.

2) You can only ask a few questions per day at first. Then as you move up levels you are able to ask more...also able to answer more.

3) You get most of your points from answering questions really well. If you give a great answer to a question, you get 2 points for answering, 10 more if you are selected as best answer, and then for every person that sees your best answer and rates it thumbs up, you get another. So really, 1 good answer can get you 50-100 points. Sometimes more. If the question you answered gets featured, sometimes thousands of people will rate your answer. Has to be a really good question and you have to be very lucky though.

4) I have been a member for 3 months. Just answer a few questions per day, and you'll move up a level in not too long. I think there is a page about the levels somewhere on here as well.

You gain 2 points for every question that you answer and if that person really likes your answer then they may pick you as the "best answer" and then you'll recieve 10 points. If you ask a question then you lose 5 points. However, if you resolve the question and choose a best answer then you gain 3 points back. This is here mainly to help other people out i think. i don't know all of the insides and outs yet but i am new at this as well and that is what i have discovered.!! i really enjoy giving feedback and hopefully i can help. to get to the next level u need how ever many points it says when u go to my Q&A (to the right of search bar)

answering questions-2
getting best answer for a question- 10
asking a question - minus 5

so answer more than u ask

It has nothing to do with how long u are a member

2.You can get as many points as you want
3.Nope being a member for a long period of time does not directly effect your points

Yes, you ask questions and when you answer questions you points mostly 2 points. I've been a member since i think september 14, 2006. Try it its great

You gain points by answering questions.
You lose points by asking them.

Answering gets you 2 points. If it's chosen as a best answer you get 10 more.

The more you participate, the more points you get and the more your level increases.

When your level increases, you can ask more questions and answer more. Because you are limited in the amount you can ask/answer until you reach level 5.

I'm kinda new here too but, I think you change levels by answering a lot of questions and you also get points by answering questions.
