Take some time to watch good speakers in action. Check out Reagan and Clinton. Both were brilliant at it. Clinton was warm, engaging, relaxed... he never stood behind the podium. He always came out front and engaged his audience. Reagan always told a nice story about someone he once met and it always folded into his topic (for instance, you could say "I met fellow classmates Ted, Mary, and Fred and they mentioned our school needed more bicycle racks. I believe I have a plan to get those racks installed if I earn your vote." (I know, that's a bit lame of an example... but hopefully you get the point.) Next step is to decide why you want to run for class office. And what you believe you can do as a representative of your student class. Write down your notes on index cards and use them during your speech. Keep your speech short and to the point. Look around at your audience... let them know you see them. Where conservative clothes (not a suite and tie, but something casual and nice looking). Good luck!!

Hello class. I am running for I know that you have been here listening to speeches of other candidates telling you what they will do, issues they will address and making promises they may or may not be able to keep. I want to tell you, I want to be able to address issues important to you. I want to make coming to an important part of your life and get each and every one of you involved in making the best school in our district. I can't promise anything unless I have your support and involvement in helping me make the best. So if you vote for me, I know that you are as committed as I am to making this the best school year ever!

You have to talk about why they should elect you.
you have to talk about some of the things that are going on around school and in class and how you will change them.
you have to talk about how you will make a difference if you are elected.

You need to emphasize what you're going to do for them - and HOW you'll do it. Think about the problems students face and explain how you'll alleviate them. Think about things that students care about the most. If you're elected, make sure you carry out everything you said you would do.

Good luck!
