I have noticed that my gas mileage sucks. I can go 3 miles down the road and my car will drink about 15 miles of gas. My car is also reved up at a high R.P.M. and seems to not want to shift into over driver. The car is a 1990 lincoln towncar. (DAMN FORDS)

There are a variety of causes for this type behavior.
The most common and likely is what is termed "Un-metered Air". More commonly referred to a vacuum leak, or air introduced into the engine after the metering devise (Mass Air Flow sensor).
With the car idling and warm, listen very closely around the engine. Do you hear a pronounced "hiss". If so, locate it and repair it.
This should rectify the high idle and the shifting problem and maybe even the fuel issue.

Good Luck

It's not because it's a Ford, it's because it's a 17 year old car. Probably needs some module on the brain box replaced.

If you have a tachometer look at it as you accelerate, if it rises steadily and never drops down your transmissions stuck in gear. The good news is you will be walking soon that should save you lots of gas. (DAMN SHOES)

Sounds like you need a tune up. it may even be you Air Fuel sensor. I would replace your spark plugs and see if that helps.
Good Luck.

Most automotive problems have one simple mechanical problem.

It's the nut that holds the steering wheel.
