My son was diagnosed with moderate to severe acne (closer to severe than moderate, says the doctor), he was told he should be put on accutane. I've heard a lot of horror stories, so I looked into alternative medicine. I took him to a wellnes center, they took x-rays since his neck was tender. They found that C1,2 & 3 vertabrae are really out of line. I believe it is C3 that is pushing on his pituitary gland, they feel that this could be the cause of his acne. Has anyone every heard of anything like this? He is receiving physical therapy. I really hope it works for him, he's only 14 and he's been dealing w/severe acne for almost a year now and I'm so sad for him. He and my husband don't believe this is going to work and I'm constantly butting heads with their closed minds. I just want to find a safe and effective treatment for him. Please let me know if you have any info. Thanks! Evie

Yes, I have heard of this. I've never talked to anybody who said that chiropractic cured their acne, but it certainly can't hurt to try! Accutane is a last resort, I agree totally with you.
I went to a chiropractor several years ago because I couldn't get rid of these severe headaches. My neck was a little stiff, from working at a computer all th time. I also had sinus trouble and was taking Claritin D every day, year round.
This chiropractor really helped straighten me out. No more headaches, and a marked difference in the sinus trouble. I only take sinus medication occasionally now, and the spine at my neck is much more loose. When it gets stiff, I can move it around and feel it pop back into place... and immediately feel my sinuses draining, which gets rid of my headaches.
Chiropractic therapy can do a lot of things for people.
I personally believe that people shouldn't need to keep on going for long periods of time, though. If he doesn't get relief within a few months, then I'd say it's time to move on to something else.

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!
Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:
1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.
There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

For body acne, Accutane is usually the best treatment because it is the only medication that provides long-term results. All other medications stop having results as soon as you stop using them. While Accutane can have significant side effects for some people, over two million people have taken this medication, and it provides long-term remission of acne for most/many of them. If the doxycycline has not cleared your body acne, you should return to your physician and report that it is not providing adequate relief and inquire about Accutane. (Topical medications are difficult to use on body acne because clothing rubs them off, so they are not very practical.) If your physician does not want to prescribe you with Accutane, inquire why -- and consider seeing a different doctor. Good luck!

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

It is amazing what they can do with alternative approaches to medicine. The theory about the vertebrae and the pituitary gland is interesting--can't hurt to try it, especially if the problem seems so severe. What do you lose, really?
