Think of how much more it will hurt the deeper into the relationship you both get. Being honest with him and yourself is part of doing the right thing in a relationship. Doing the right thing doesnt' always feel good.

Sorry, but there's no easy way out of this one. You need to just talk to him and let him know how you feel. I stood in a relationship for a long time, b/c I didnt want to hurt my g/f. I ended up miserable and full of resentment. Don't do that to yourself. Strong people hurt others sometimes... Be strong.

it's always going to hurt unless it's a mutual descision. Do it quick before it gets worse and you talk yourself out of it. It may hurt but if you give time for both to grieve then get over it you two will be much better off... Just be brief and honest. if you go to long about it it makes it more awkward.

Tell him privately. Tell him in a kind way. If you can't think of a specific reason to give; just say I'm sorry, but this doesn't seem to be working out.
Now, leave him alone and don't change your mind.

you should tell him in person it makes you look like less of a coward. just make sure when you do this that your in a public area, not alone incase he can't take the truth and starts to get frantic. so you can run for you life and never deal with him again.

It private since doing so in public would add embarrassment to injury. Gently, honestly and quickly as well.

you're hurting him more by staying with him and not being honest. You just straight up have to tell him you dont want to see him anymore.
