The clear runny nose could also be a sign of allergies. Alergic reaction can cause runny nose and crankiness. Several factors can contribute to this:
1. If your baby is formula fed, then the allergic reaction can be to the lactose in the milk.
2. If your house or the daycare where your baby stays has carpeting, then the floor traps allergens and can cause allergies.
3. If you or the daycare has a window AC unit, then it could be from mold that grows in there.

Sounds like it could be teething, for sure. Medical research tends to say that cold-like symptoms are not symptoms of teething, but even my doctor admits that they usually go hand-in-hand. As long as the mucous is clear, I wouldn't worry about it. Ask your doctor what, if any, medication you can give your son for a runny nose. And plenty of Tylenol. He should be fine, but ask your doctor if you have any questions. Good luck!

It's possible because in my son's daycare, although it wasn't one of the "tried and true" symptoms, some kids did have the runny nose during teething.

I think it's just one of those things where kids react differently - just like each pregnancy is different. Some kids may spike a fever and some may not.

The doctors say different things too.

My daughter never had a clear runny nose because of teething. If a baby is teething and gets cold symptoms like runny nose, fever, rash then it's not because of teething. Teething stresses them out therefore their immune system breaks down and they do get sick. I'm glad you are going to the Dr tomorrow. Give him lots of hugs, snuggles that's the best medicine for him to get through this.

On a side note, I just went through a sickness and teething myself with my daughter. It's so hard to see them miserable. My daughter would try to play and then just give up and cry. My heart broke for her as I'm sure yours is for your son. Lots of hugs and snuggles, it seems to work better than Tylnol.

it could be also the ear infection going away.... check for green mucus in his nose thats a clear indication of a cold, but if it just clear liquid and thats it, its most rprobably teething...

Yes, sometimes it can be a symptom. If he is cranky, then give him some Tylenol!
