We could have attacked them in 1937 but we did nothing. In 1937 the Germans had about 40 divisions to the allies hundreds if you included the conquered countries. We could have wiped them all clean away but we dilly dallied and let the nazis get a head start.
But I always think that if we'd have got them at the start off, then there'd have been another war with the Germans at a later date.
Because if you look at it, to the last decade of the 19th century and half the 20th all we spent worrying about what Germany was up to. After WW1 the Germans still the belly to fight again as they didn't feel defeated. In the aftermath of WW2 they were left with no such illusions.

It is pretty difficult to ascertain any particular act which could have prevented an expanding country, intent on gaining more imports of essential materials. Thus was the intent of the Japanese..

The European arena was just one of conquest for the gaining of dominion over all those in close proximity. The "Pure race" being the prime mover..Even with treaties in place, the conquest went on. Sort of similar intent of the Ottoman Empire of history (and occuring again in our own time).

The US could have allowed Japan a diplomatic solution instead of maneuvering her into declaring war against the US. It is believed by some that FDR and his advisors purposefully maneuvered Japan into a corner where there was no option but a declaration of war against the US, which both countries knew Japan would lose after a long struggle.

we could have seen the writing on the wall when the jews were put on the ship and paid attention to the gathering of war related materiels by germany.

that, along with the rise of the nazi party and the violations of the treaty of versai (ver-sigh) should have been very good clues.

If they had stomped Hitler the moment he invaded Poland, it would have ended right there. Instead, politicians wanted to negotiate with Hitler, lets just talk and find out what he wants, lets give him what he wants and he'll like us and not invade us. Worked real well. When Hitler invaded Poland, he barely had an army or air force. Does all that appeasement sound familiar? Thanks to Bill Clinton, we have Osama.

Killing Hitler wouldn't have stopped it. The times in Germany were right for a Fuhrer. Hitler's madness is what led to the end for Germany. His own generals (like Rommel) wanted to assassinate him.

The US didn't have to do anything. The only thing that Europe was supposed to do was not to wach Poland get chopped to pieces by the Nazis.
