They are 100% legal to use in Tennessee

In North America, Radar detectors are illegal in Virginia(only a $95 ticket and you keep your detector), Washington DC, and some providences in Canada

However some states have laws about mounting something on your windshield that could possibly obstruct your vision of the road. But it is a saw fine(under $50)
