Uses of Thermistor in the environment or real life

In my experience, the thermistor opens at a certain temperature, which prevents the circuit from being opened.

I use them in one of my businesses for furnaces. They serve two purposes in a furnace. One of them turns the fan on when the heat exchanger gets hot enough so the furnace doesn't blow cold air. The other turns off the gas supply and the fan when the heat exchanger gets too hot as a safety device to prevent fires.

Both wrong....sorry, but thermistors change resistance in relation to how much electric current is passed through it....they are used in Demagnetizing circuits in Televisions, which start with a large amount of current, which then reduces as the Thermistor heats up.....They use positive temperature coefficient thermistors there....

They can be used to "Sense" temperature, however they are Non Linear, which means that they don't track temperature in a straight line......they operate on a curve which is worthless for measuring temperature....But you can use one for a maximum/minimum temperature sensor control.
