Sunset publishes a series of gardening books that are specific to areas of the country. They are excellent.
In addition, Rodale also publishes a series.
Any library will have those. Check them out, and see if they seem to fulfill your needs. If you like them, they may be easily purchased at amazon.com

Hi, i have just got into gardening. I borrowed book 1 and book 2 of Alan Titchmarsh's books. They are really a good source of information for the beginner. Book 1 is more for the beginner and then book 2 is more advanced, and covers garden design and stuff like that.

Best book on gardening I ever read. Square foot gardening. written By Mel Bartholomew. Or Bartholamay. I have used this method ever since. I get more veggies in less space for far less work than the old ways I used to garden.

Allan Titchmarsh's books are good, but expensive, have a look round your Oxfam and 2nd hand shops, there always seems to be many gardening books

Go to your friendly neighborhood library, ask them to see books of gardening and they will have you more than any site could.

You can try Ross for really cheap gardening books, or you could go to Barnes and Noble. They have tons of selection. Or you could go to your library. That way it's frreeeeeeeee!

go for books by Monty Don I watch his program on BBC tv on channel 2 and it's pretty down to earth stuff easy to understand. Where library secondhand shops, supermarkets also plenty of gardening programs on television so you can see what they are actualy doing.
