it's tough. you have to sell yourself. learn as much as you can about the job so that you are able to speak as if you have lots of experience.

i found that problem. To get a job you need experience but to get experience you need a job. Either got to keep at it and apply to the ones that say they want experience anyway and see if you can get some interviews or get more skills (that what i'm doing, going to get a masters) Good luck

Always thought that myself employers dont give you a chance, sometimes they want qualifications and when you get that they want experience you cant win. Try work experience via job centres etc.or volunteer work to gain some experience in the job world, but also remember you have life experience use that too to your advantage - dont sell yourself short.

Experience for that particular job would mean either working at prior positions doing what they require. Most companies will allow you to gain experience (non-pay) through apprentiship programs, all you have to do is contact their Human Resources Department and ask. This way you can build your experience as well as your resume and be more marketable.

Depend what you're tring to get into. Embellishing the truth is a start. Don't actually lie, just make more of what you've done. Often getting the interview is the key. That's your window of opportunity to sell youself. If they like you and what you've had to say it's often better than the boring person with 10 years experience behind them.

Sometimes, you have to start at the bottom. For example, if you want to be a bar tender, you start as a bar back (dishes, stocking, etc.) or if you want to be the VP of a company, you might have to start in the mail room.

Also, if you have a specific vocation in mind, find classes that will give you some experience and knowledge.

Offer to job shadow or volunteer in a related field. My friend wants to be a dog groomer, so she talked a local groomer into letting her sweep up fur for free for the chance to get enough experience to actually get a grooming job.

Sometimes you can cross reference experience by taking on voluntary work - e.g. if a post wishes you to have excellent comms skills, then you work with a variety of people voluntarily and pick these kind of skills up.
