It's not the memory chip, my phone has around 50 songs on it and it has a 512 mb memory stick, i think that can hold like 250 songs.

I did see many facing the same problem. As adviced by others you could return the phone from where you bought and ask them to fix it for you.
Incase you cant send or the give away the phone for repair, my sincere advice is to update the firmware (software). Its so easy that you could do this by yourself using the sonyericsson's update service. All you need is the phone (w800i) and the USB cable which came with it.

Just log on to the sonyericsson's website using the link below and follow the instructions. This should help.

If it doesn't, let me know which network you are on and whether its PayMonthly or PayAsYouGo.

This is defenatly a fault with the software. Call your operator and get through to the 'Fault Department' if there is one and explain the situation. The usual outcome is that you send off the phone for repairs. If this happens, MAKE SURE YOU SAVE ALL YOUR CONTACTS and other inportant info as they might just send you a new phone.

It probably needs the firmware upgrading. My sony ericsson was only a week old when the camera wouldnt work. I took it to a carphonewarehouse repair centre, it was fixed within 24hrs. Free.
