The big bang refers to a theory that fits the evidence astronomers and astrophyscists have observed. it's the idea that matter was condensed into a single point of energy that was so consentrated that it began expelling matter and anti matter, but because the gravity around this superconsentrated matter was so strong it attracted both the matter and anti-matter back to it, which resulted in an explosion. Now, as you know(as anyone knows who's seen things in space) an object in motion tends to stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force(even the church won't deny that) and since space is a vaccuum, there was nothing to stop the universe from keep expanding. eventually high points of gravity condensed to create galaxies, stars, planets, etc....the junk from our won solar system is still everywhere around us. kuniper belt...astroids, commets. but even though they were attracting eachother, the universe kept expanding...background radiation is still there from the original explosion(the sucker was nuclear). we are only protected from that radiation because of our ionisphere(magnetic sheild). It's more complex then that, but thats the basic gyst.

here's the thing. a theory is a proposed way of how something could have happened. it needs extensive evidence in order to go from being a hypothesis to a theory. the second true scientific evidenc is given disproving it, any at all, the theory is dead and a new hypothesis must be proposed to fit the new evidence.

Your faith does not have to contradict science. faith does not need science. I believe that the big bang happened...but something needed to create the laws that govern us all...

The Big Bang is the theory which explaining how the universe formed. The theory states that the universe was initially a very small, densely packed "ball" of matter, which then exploded out in every direction. The theory explains why galaxies that are far away from us are moving away from us at faster rates than closer galaxies.

It is considered a "strong theory" because the predictions it made have since shown to be true (such as the existence of cosmic background radiation, which I won't deal with here - see the Wikipedia article).

It is important to remember that the Big Bang only shows something about the universe's creation. It does not say anything about whether or not there was a "creator", or whether we have 'free will' or not, or the meaning of life.

The big bang theory comes from the fact that the universe is constantly expanding. It seems that there was some large explosion that set all matter into motion throughout space and it has been ever expanding since this big bang. The big bang does not address how humans or other life came about on earth. It doesnt really have anything to do with evolution or not. It just deals with how the universe began to expand.

The Big Bang theory states that the entire universe was once in a tiny ball too small to even see, then it blew up and is still expanding. Everything is moving away from everything else too, so the evidence is pretty good. If you think about it, only such a scenario explains everything being in motion away from everything else. There's other evidence too which I don't know.
