Hi, anyone speak either of these two languages. I need the word for 'seasickness' in either of these languages. Apparently it's the same in both. I'd also REALLY appreciate it if you could try and write it phonetically as well so I'd have an idea how to pronounce it. I'm having a conversation about languages with someone who tells me that it's a really cool word. There doesn't seem to be an option to translate to Swedish or Norwegian on babelfish.
Thanks!

Well, in Swedish it's "sjösjuk" and I believe in Norwegian it's something like "sjøsyke", so basically almost the same.

I totally suck at those phonetic things, since English isn't my first language, but let's try it anyways...
'Sjösjuk' is basically 2 words (sjö and sjuk) melted together.

Sj is like sh in words 'shoe' or 'shell'
ö is like ea in 'learn' or u in 'burn'

sj again, the same as the first one
uk sounds pretty much the same as ook in 'look' or 'hook'

Hope this helps...

The word is "Sjøsyke". As stated in a previous answer, it consists of two words combined: "Sjø" which means "Sea", and "Syke" which is "Illness".

In order to pronounce it, I suggest the following:
"Sjø" is pronounced like "Su" in "Sure"
"Syke" like "Sikh+eh"

The stress is one the first syllable

The pronounciation is the same in both languages.
