I think that Western involvement in terrorist groups goes beyond agent provocateurs. The US reaction was quite predictable and therefor it seems inconceivable that the ultimate controllers of the terrorists are in fact Muslims.
The ultimate financial beneficiaries of the Twin Towers destruction have been the US oil, defense and construction industries. Terrorist activity has displaced other events from the public eye and enabled legislators to erode more of our civil rights. Meanwhile, Israel receives increased aid and support for its oppression of the Palestinians.
