My cable bill is outrageous! I'm thinking about changing to Direct TV. Any insights or comments?

Is the service any good? What's the main difference with your basic cable service? Is it better than cable..as far as reception or service?

We switched to Directv when they raised the cable and took our favorite channels away from us.
We pay $56 a month, we don't have any movie channels...but we really don't need them.....so many channels to watch.
If you decide to switch could you use us as a referral...my boyfriend wants the NFL ticket, but we can't afford it. Directv pays $100 for referrels.
www.directv.com/refer or 1-866-Gift-To-You

Depends on what you call outrageous. I have DirecTV with Tivo in three rooms (extra $$ for each receiver every month), the Total Choice Plus channel package, the HD package, and the HBO channels.

My bill is more than $100 each month. In addition to that, I also pay extra for NFL Sunday Ticket football games.

I had it for a while-a few years.
It goes out frequently if there is a snowstorm or bad rain storm.

If you decide you don't want it, you have to pay $200.00 to cancel the contract.
The only good thing I found was I had ABC East and West to get those football games that weren't being shown on regular tv. And they'll add it for a few bucks a month.
