Yes work can really kill you:
1. Work is the major cause of stress and stress is scientifically proven to cause damage to health if left uncheck.
2. There are some occupations or work that are predisposed to cause you to disease or to accidents. (example a construction worker & a worker at a plant with high radiation levels).
3. If one gets to be work-aholic, this is a symptom of a Type-A personality, where one works and works until his/her social relationships are broken. This then leads to sever depressions that may lead to suicide.

Work cannot kill you:
1. If work is done in moderation then one wouldn't be stressed.Learning how to take breaks and knowing the limit of the body won't do any harm.
2. If the worker has a stable support system (example family and friends) then the worker won't be depressed.
3. If you really love your job then you wouldn't be predisposed to harm because you will really take extra precautions as you already know how to gauge the danger level of your job.

I'm not doing your homework for you! All I will say is that it's a definite "yes" in conclusion, the Japanese even have a word for it: 'karoshi'

"Karoshi is a Japanese word meaning death from overwork. It was first identified in Japan, and the word is adopted internationally. The term has been used since the 1970s by progressive medical experts, occupational safety and health (OSH) activists, trade unionists, and lawyers. Since the 1980s, the media has covered this issue intensely. Karoshi reflects the contradictions of Japan’s industrial growth, partly achieved through sacrificing Japanese workers. Since the latter half of the 1980s, karojisatsu (suicide from overwork) has also become a big social issue in Japan. Under the rationalisation and restructuring following the bursting of the bubble economy, the suicide rate among the working-age population has increased dramatically."

I guess you would have a better chance of your work killing you if you were career military.
