Hire a private detective. Go to court and file for a custody hearing.

If you are not married and he took off with the child it's considered felony kidnapping unless he had custody of the child or you have been proven unfit for some reason! There is a reason the police wont do anything and i don't no your situation but the police regardless in which state will try there best to find the responsible party! You need to question your police department! I no if it was my son i wouldn't be in the Internet asking people who no nothing about it, id be sitting at the police station until i got answers!

Well, since he is the real father, is not a felony... I think. he is also older than you and perhaps doing better in life than you. Perhaps the police did a research and found out that the baby is better with him than with you. In any case the only way to fight this will be in court.

Has he proven paternity?
Is the baby in danger?
You should probably contact legal aid in your area and see if they can help you.... As far as the police are concerned, it's a civil matter, and until custody is established, they can't do anything. If you can prove that you are in danger or the baby is, you can file an ex parte and this will outline custody also.

My Goodness! Have you formally reported you child as KIDNAPPED? Do the police have any reason that they can do nothing for you? You'd better get busy, girl, & contact every agency available to help you....Child Protective Services, FBI (kidnapping is their territory), & organizations who help mothers in this terrible situation. If the police won't help you, report this to the other organizations. Give them all of the information you have. Are you using or anything of that sort that may not make you credible to them? Get on it, girl it's your CHILD!!
