Party less than you study. That doesn't mean you can't party, it just means you have to study too. Get it? Besides, by your 3rd year, you're most likely getting into your major requirements. Those are a lot easier to focus on, because you aren't having to wade through a ton of Gen Ed courses that don't interest you. You'll also start to find your classmates becoming better assets too, because they'll share your interests in the topic.

Here is my dad's advice (and I agree): "Treat school like a full time job: at least 40 hours a week either in class or studying". What this means in reality is to make school a priority from 9 am to 5 pm. You are in the library or in a study area, don't have AIM on, your cell phone on (or screen calls), or your email up. Work and go to classes in this whole time. Then if you are done with studying and homework at 5 pm, go hang with your friends and enjoy college life. If you aren't, go to dinner and the gym (you need to keep your body healthy) and hang with your friends until 7 or 8 so you remain sane, and then head to the library until you are done. There will be points in the semester where you will have little to do and points where you would love to have 10 minutes to shower without feeling guilty about not doing your work. Just remember to have a social life, designate one 8 hour block of awake time a week where you do not do school work (I highly recommend Saturday from 4 pm to whenever you crash.
Enjoy your time in school, because it will be over soon.
Good Luck!

Try not to party and hang with friends too much during the week. Make it a point to stay on task during the week and if everything is done and done properly, then indulge and go have fun on the weekend. School is difficult, but it is a short time in our lives and we can have fun after we get the degree and great job...Getting great grades can help with landing that all important first job. Good Luck.

Study hard, read the books, ask questions to the professor. Believe me, asking questions all the time will help you get better grades, especially because the teacher will get to know you and a lot of the times will even help you raise your grade since he/she knows that you are very interested in the subject. Go out one night out of the week, the rest, just study study study

One thing that has really helped me is just devoting more of my time to school. This is much easier said than done but what helped me do this was to realize that 4 years of college is a very small portion of my life. I may want to go and party one night but if you really think about it you will have the rest of your life to do these things. College is very demanding but its only 4 years out of your entire life. I also have promised my self a little break when i get my undergrad. I plan to go to Europe for 3 months and do absolutely nothing except party, sight see, and sleep. Your almost there!

Please read this book:
"The Power of Focus for College students"
by
Les Hewitt, Andrew Hewitt and Luc D'abadie.
this book will make your last years in college really count. Get it wherever you can! I have bought my own copy already. It contains information in a new light. get it at a library if your worried about money, but I would not be surprised if you bought it!! I already did, its worth the money!
other than that, study and visit the study skill center at your college ( or just go to your adviser).

You have to master time management first of all. It also really helps to use study groups. Studying with students who are really smart and can explain the work to you is a great way to learn, study, and it can be fun!
