Common reasons turtles stop eating:
1. It is too cold. The tank water should be heated to 75-80 degrees.
2. It is too stressed. Babies are tough pets and stop eating because it is a new cage, they are being handled too much, they are scared of the lights, vibrations, etc.,
3. Tank and water conditions. Small, dirty tanks are bad for turtles. Aim for 10 gallons of water per inch of turtle and find a way to do excellent filtration or plan to change a lot of the water every few days.
4. Wrong food. Too many people are told to give these guys the wrong food. For a baby, try high-quality turtle pellets formulated for baby aquatic turtles, bloodworms, and other small live fish food. Feed an amount about the size of the turtle's head or so. Feed a baby every day, every two days for a young turtle, and every 3 days for an adult.
There is a lot of misinformation about baby turtles. The sites below can offer a lot of good advice.

I wouldnt feed any type of lettuce to any captive reptile. It has no nutritional value at all and can cause watery diarrhea and dehydration. I would suggest that you visit www.autinsturtlepage.com or www.resoasis.com and research. Make sure you have the proper sized enclosure, temperature, uvb lighting, and diet. Research is your friend and so is your local reptile vet, make use of them both.
