you have to have someone with an account invite you. if you post your email on here or email it to my yahoo account i will send you and invite i have gmail.

You need to get invited by someone. They have 100 free invitations.

You need to be invited to join gmail by someone who already has one, and you need to let them have your e-mail address in order to invite you to join gmail

Huh? Are we talking about Google Mail here? Just go to http://mail.google.com and follow the sign-up instructions.
It's really really easy plus google has these flash shows to help you move from your previous e-mail provider to gmail. You don't have to be invited or anything, that's a LIE.
I don't regret moving to Gmail because their services are really great and they even offer POP for free.
