I just tried this and it works to my amazement. Pour two ounces of cider vinegar in a small juice glass add two drops of liquid dish soap and just leave it set out, in fact I have done this in several rooms of the house......you won't think it is working until you pick up the glass and look in the bottom and see all of the fruit flies in the bottom.

They are attracted to the fresh fruit. Can you keep it in the fridge? They will also find any place with garbage cans that haven't been emptied regularly.

i heard if you spray you plants with a water and a little bit of dish soap it will keep the bugs from eating the plants and living and will not harm the plants. fruit? not sure about that one. I guess you could spray them and rinse them before eating them

capfull of bleach set next to the fruit or plant

Take fresh basil an put it in a cloth bag. then tie it up an put it around your house. will keep them away as well as mesquitoes.
