I think the Arabic culture is really interesting, and they are really different from us. There are some fascinating things about individual body space and such. Edward Hall's book Hidden Dimension tells alot about cultural differences, but it's really old. Besides for the class credit, I think just learning about their culture would be a beneficial experience and helpful to dispensing stereotypes.

I'm sorry to learn you have been given an assignment by a sociology teacher regarding things in other cultures that seem strange to Americans. As an American who has lived overseas for several years, I got my fill of all the arrogant, narrow-minded Americans who had no end to their tales of foreign things that were strange to them... but they had no clue, or capacity to understand anything about all the things we Americans do that seem so weird to people from other cultures. So many Americans feel superior talking about how strange other cultures are. A better and more enlightening assignment would be to research all the many things that Americans do that seem strange to people in other parts of the world.

(table manners are actually not completely stepped forward in individuals). those are all that pass my strategies. i'm Turkish btw, and that i do no longer intend to be impolite. i'd on no account say that to any American interior the face, yet provided that i don't be responsive to you and that i think you're truthfully asking the question, i'm supplying you with a pair of evaluations. And no offense btw, each and every usa has its own rudeness so in a feeling, each and every usa is a splash impolite. And something impolite in a rustic won't be impolite in yet another usa. Like in Turkey, taking somebody elses place in line isn't regularly impolite, yet i be responsive to that's quite impolite in u . s . a ..

In Nepal (I think) in some places the women there have multiple husbands. Aussies can buy kangaroo and emu steaks in the supermarket. Or what about the deplorable custom of female circumcision? Or wedding traditions like pinning money to the brides veil ( Greek and Italian) or smashing the glass (jewish).
