If you did, do you think it made you better or worse as an adult?

I did. I rarely acted up, but when I did do something offensive, I did benefit from it.

There's a huge difference between a spanking and abuse. Spankings, when utilized correctly as discipline, can prevent bad behavior by having them learn their actions do have consequences. Abuse humiliates, harms, and leaves them angry and bitter.

I did as well and im only 14, and it didnt help at ALL. Thats why even know i feel a dose of hate towards my parents for doing what they did. Although my mother did do it she certainly didnt do anything to help it. I think spanking or better yet beating up your child is by no means of ******* putting something into their heads especially discipline. Probably only moral punishment bu thast all. Even now my parents thing that my dream of becoming a rockstar (which i have) is just a normal fantasy and that for the sake of their wallet and money savinggs will go without spending any penny. Sometimes in the middle of the night i just burst into tears not knowing why...

Yes most definetly I got spanked as a child. I think that it has made me realise that you need it to understand right and wrong. I don't see a problem with it at all. In fact I will be giving my kids a spanking as I think that it is an important part of discipline. I tell ya, I walk past so many screaming misbehaving kids & their parents can't control them & I feel like giving them a big, fat smack myself! In a nutshell, athough unpleasant at the time, I think that it has definetly helped me as an adult.

Yes. I don't think it had any effect on my adult life. As a child, I could be a real pain in the ***, and I must say, being spanked did the trick. However, as I am now, I can't say it made any difference.

Hell yes I did. And I doubt they made me better. Spanking can be ok when a child does something wrong on purpose, but not when he does something he dosen't realise is wrong. Besides that, spanking in public ... no way. Every child has a prsonality and a bit of ego you have to respect. Not respecting his personality can do real damage, can make him a rebel and makes him not trust his parents really want what's best for him.

yes
it made me angry as a child and hateful towards my parents. it might have been Ok when I was an infant, but they continued it through school years. The last time my mom laid a hand on me - I was 16 and she slapped me in the face. I hit her back.

We also had a tradition in my family on our birthdays. Everyone got to line up and spank you the number of times that your age was, and then they got to add a "pinch to grow an inch". it was humiliating and painful.

now as an adult - I hate birthdays, and I no longer speak to my family at all. by the time I was 9, I was insulted by spankings, because I would have much rather discussed the matter, instead of just being hit when my parents were mad. I have resented them since then.

Yes I did but only if I really did somthing wrong. Like when my dad found out I was playing with matches by finding my stash behind the shed. Tore my *** up. But both my mom and dad soon after explained to me why it was wrong and dangerous. I was 10 at the time.

Had No real affect on me as an adult. If anything it gave me a greater respect for my elders.

Heck Ya I got spanked. I think I am a much better person because of it. It is kinda like sticking your finger in an outlet, you do it once, you feel the pain, you know better the next time.

No, Not until I was a teenager. Then it stopped, then I was just punished by them telling me to stay in. I don't like hitting, I rather
talk it out or tell them just get out of my face. Just until I cool off.
Then the talking starts. It's all about I want to hear you out and
what kind of excuse your going to give me. Then if it is excuse-
able then I'm give her 9 minutes of her time out from playing
with her friends. Or if she is just being selfish then I would seriously give her a week. It also depends on the situation cause
I usually give in. She is only 9 yr's old what harm can a good hearted person do. As for my 21 yr. old, When I get mad at her,
we stop talking just for the night. And then we act like nothing happened. But we do talk about it as well. Were a close
family.
