This site doesn't have exactly what you want -- but does have a list of teams that won at least 20 consecutive games. The 1880 Chicago White Stockings has the record with 21.

If I remember correctly, the 1954 Cardinals started 21-0.

As for worst, it was the 1977 Tigers at 0-18.
