This game was played on May 6th, 1975 (end of season) and was a testimonial game for John Hore (who would later manage PA). 4-3 Liverpool was the score as you mentioned with Rafferty, Delve and Mariner scoring for PA and Clemence(pen), Hall, McDermott and Hughes scoring for Liverpool. 25,336 was the attendance.
Here is a link to the Argyle team picture and squad for that season:

Liverpool would win the UEFA Cup the following May with a lineup of Clemence, Smith, Neal, Thompson, Kennedy, Hughes, Keegan, Case, Heighway, Toshack and Callaghan. Fairclough was involved too over both legs. Some of these may have played in the above game.

Think Ernie Machin and Paul Mariner too.
Beat Brazil 3-2 and they had Pele, there was some disquiet before the match, something to do with money I think.
The Liverpool match I hardly remember, I can find nothing after a quick Google.
Toshack , Keegan ...aah I remember, Keegan was there, Emlyn Hughes, Cormack ?
