Im 17 and a half, and Im about 5'6. Compared to my friends, Im really short as most of them are 5'10+. Im about as tall as my dad, and a lil taller than my mom, but my doctor says he thinks I still have time to grow and all of my brothers are 6+ feet tall. I ask, though, because I havent grown in over a year. Im worried that Ill be this short for the rest of my life, right now it is ruining my self esteem and I cant even date anyone anymore because I always compare myself height-wise to them, and it ruins me.

You'll probably grow some more, but you need to eat right, get plenty of exercise and rest/sleep, do NOT smoke, etc.
If you don't grow anymore, that's okay, just be happy with who you are. As far as dating, you have one distinct advantage over your taller friends, you can look you date in the eye (assuming that she is as tall as you). Don't waste time worrying about something that won't change overnight. Have fun, this is the time of your life when you don't have too much responsibility so enjoy yourself while you can. College/senior year of high school, should be a great time in your life. After saying all of that, I do still think that you'll grow some more, especially since your brothers are all 6' and taller.

Don't worry about your height...whether you get a few more inches or not. It's something you can't change.

As for a growing spurt....it sure is possible. I went into the Army when I was 17.....at a height of 5'7". By the time I got to my first duty station I was 6'1". I was just turning 19. So in the span of a year and a few month.....almost 6 inches.

I do wish I had that height my Senior Year in High School.....but we can't go backwards.

Don't worry, you will continue to grow to about 21-1/2. It's too early for you to get discouraged. At 17 you will probably hit 4 to 7 more inches in height. Relax.

If you are male, you stop growing and developing fully at age 25. If you are female you stop at age 18. You are average height right now so why are you sweating it?!? I am 29 years old and only 5 feet tall. My first husband was 6 feet tall. My second husband was 5'9 and my current bf is 6'2. Why did you stop dating over that issue?!? That is ridiculous. Acceptance goes a long way. Accept who you are and get over yourself.

You never know, but I grew until I was about 24.
Just be heatlhy. I think the best thing you can do
for your height is build your muscles, eat healthy, \
and have excellent posture. That will make anyone
look taller than they are.
