Because race is what makes people who they are! Why is that a bad thing? We all came from somewhere!! People just need to accept people for who they are!! Ethnicity is simply a part of all of us. You are the one making it a negative!! I'm American Indian; and through my eyes African Americans are more prejudiced than whites! You are the one thinking about it!!!

Can I give you a cyber HUG ( )
I am white >> _ _well spotted with a pure white butt :)
You know I believe I am with you. but when I visit the city Sacramento and the malls I very much notice the black young people and our gender culture gap. I do not object to the dress or the stupid manners. I do avoid them. I don't do well in confrontation and I've been there.
But I see it as "HOW SAD" I can't help you much. But even us old folk (I'm 66M) know some how we have lost you for now. But you'll change when you try to get a job and realize it may be OK with your friends but not out here.
Also If you isolate your self with just your black culture nnooo that's not where I wish to go...
Your lucky to be in that white school It gives you first hand experiences. Most of the students will accept you as is. There will be a few are bigots, but they are that way by training at home.
So just hang on don't change your goals Strive To Be Happy

I agree most people do think but I never have . I still don't understand this either . The facts for me are that I love everyone sometimes inspite of them selves , and do not judge anyone because it's not my job ! All I can do is lead by example and hope I can touch some other's hearts to do the same .
Just because you said who you were I'll say that I was born a white female , now I say I'm a child of God , a Mom and a Grandma !

People in the world since the age of time have been judging people by the way they look. Color is not the only thing people judge by. Blond or red head. Freckles or not. Tall or short.
Even the kind of car you drive will cause people to judge.
The T.V. newspapers ads all things. You can't judge someone on T.V. in the 30 sec. they are in a commercial, so you till will judge by looks. Its almost human nature.

yes i totally know what you mean. its been bugging me lately the very thing you are talking about. by the way i am white. but its like this guy was telling a story and he is going on and on and then he mentions his black friend George. and i have seen this scenario or one like it before and the person isn't doing or saying anything consciously racial or intentional, but how are we going to phase this out of our language. just like you said, instead of saying, the tall guy, instead of the black guy, or why mention the color. but on the other hand i think black people have some awesome things that white people don't just like Indians etc. so its really cool for me to have a black friend especially living in the area i live in which is predominantly white. anyway i think i will go and call her and see what she is wearing.

People will see you through stereotype eyes until they get to know you. Just be friendly and they will see you as a potential friend. Besides, being black is part of who you are. Be proud.

I know exactly what you mean. You don't distinguish yourself as being any color until someone points it out. And if you don't like things that people of your race generally like, then you're odd or different. Lol, I like being odd though. :) I don't know why this is though. The human race is all one.

there are many weak people in the world. they are generally shallowed. those people tend to see race more than anything else. sad but true racism is alive and well
