Context means learning about something by it's surroundings. The most common example is if someone uses a word you don't know, sometimes you can still figure it out from the rest of what they're saying. In Archeology, this refers to surroundings an artifact is found in, which they can use to date the artifact and identify it in some cases. If you find a knife in a place with lots of cookware, then it's probably more of a cooking knife than a weapon. Make sense?
