Galilean relativity---the same reason why you can't always tell if you're moving when you're in a train.

Much the same as flying in an airplane. Although you are moving at 500 mph, other than a few bumps, you do not have a sense of forward motion. That is because everything in the airplane is also moving at 500 mph so the motion is relative. BUT, if you look at the ground, you see a differential of movement between you and the ground. Then and only then do you get a sense of forward motion.

Find a friend with a fairly powerful telescope. Focus on a planet like Saturn. If you have the magnification up enough and turn the time drive off, you can watch the object travel across your field of view. THAT is the rotation of the earth. Been there, done that. It really floored me. That is how I got a sense of the rotation of the earth. You should really try it......... Maybe a local university with an observatory can show it to you.

We are on earth and we move with it . Also atmosphere moves with it.

We are able to feel only relative motion.

By the way we are moving at approximately 1000 mile per hour.

If you neglect earths orbital motion around the sun. Earth circumference is 24000 miles, comes to same point in 24 hour.

You can actually hear the sound of this motion but that is another "Q".

Hit you have to be on a hill and orient your self just right.

Sounds like "Ohmoooooo......" some thing close cannot write the exact sound.

Nobody really gets the answer to this. Feeling rotational forces depends on angular velocity and not on linear velocity.

In other words it depends on how fast you are changing angles.

On a child's playground roundabout, you are travelling much much slower than the Earth is turning, but you are turning 360 deg in seconds. The Earth turns 360 deg in 24 hours.

The angular speed of Earth is so slow that at any one time you are more or less travelling in a straight line, and you will no more feel it than travelling constant speed and constant direction on anything else, train, car, plane, rocket.

we have nothing to relatively compare and feel the movement of earth with something else, with naked eye. Since we are part of the system itself, we can sense only those little things that move inside the system.

To explain it better, consider urself standing at possible center of a 10m diameter circle. You start drawing a circle around you, using a stick, on the sand. When you notice urself, though u and stick make a 360deg rotation each (to draw/complete the circle). the sand-edge of the stick moved faster than ur hand-end. Same thing happening in earth bucz every1 is positioned at center of the earth (relative to edge of earth), the far end of earth seems to rotate faster than urself than you cannt find the effect

Want to feel the earth moving. When the sky is clear but with a few clouds....concentrate on just one cloud for at least 15 minutes , it will seem to move to some direction. That is the earth revolving. And don't brood over it.A normal day to night to day recurrence.

The earth is undergoing revolution. But did u know earth is also undergoing rotation. Since revolution and rotation are taking place in the same time frame...we on earth do not get a feeling of movement.

i can give you an example that is if you are sitting in a car and your mom is driving the car and you are sitting on the window seet and when you see out of the window you feel like pepole are moving even if they are standing and when you see your mom she is still this is because she is also moving with you and you and she both are in motion and the people outside are not moving similarly on earth all the people are toghether in motion so it does not seems like earth is revolving and gravitional force keeps us on the surface of earth

Because earth is very big enough, assume you as an ant travelling on a bus,i bet you will not feel anything even if the bus goes in a whirlpool at even10 kph

We are moving at same speed and in the same direction.Space shuttle travels at very high speed, still astronauts,or cosmonauts feels as they are not moving .That is the reason we do not feel the movement of earth.

You are part of earth and moving with it. Hence you cannot feel that the earth is moving.
