Its for an assingment and i have to get it done tonight!

Depends on what kind of rocks.
Some kinds of rocks can be "decomposed" by acid. Lichens do that a bit -- secrete acid onto the stone. I'd bet there are also some bacteria that would do that to some kinds of rocks too.

Mechanical -- see above for the roots-into-cracks. Once a crack has started in a rock, water can get into the crack, and further erode the rock. Also, water can freeze and expand in a crack, further enlarging the crack.

Well the most efficient way for a living organism to break down rocks would be to become an inmate in a state prison in the southern USA

The roots of trees can get into cracks in rocks. When the roots grow they expand and crack the rock open more.

There are some mollusks that can bore into rock, such as piddocks.
