Here are some ideas:
Hawaii
The River Walk in San Antonio (I found this place to be SO romantic!)
Cabin in the Adirondacks (spelling?)
It's not part of the lower 48, but the US Virgin Islands
Also, have you considered a cross country trip? Those are so much fun and you get to see so much, and try different foods.
Of course, there are always Vegas hotels set up to look like European countries or something of the sort.
I love amusement parks--Cedar Point has 16 rollar coasters. It's in Ohio. I think 3 or 4 of them are internationally ranked.
It's so hard to suggest stuff when I know nothing about you guys. What do you both like to do? Do you prefer mountains to beaches? How did you meet? What kind of budget (if any) are you looking at?

We got married Augustt2005. We spent a week in SF and 3 days in Vegas. I fell in love with SF, plan to go back next month. There is so much to do. So many different things for different people (Napa, Sonoma, Monterrey, Chinatown, Alcatraz etc...) It can be totally romantic or completely touristy. Depending on what you like. We stayed at the Mark Hopkins and the Handlery. Loved the Handlery (noisy downtown) the Mark Hopkins is up the Hill, great views and romantic, but a bit stuffy.

San Diego is a nice place for a honeymoon. It's the 7th largest city in the US so there are lots of cultural things to do...theater, music, sports, nice restaurants, wine tasting, horseracing, romantic sunsets, hiking, and great resorts. The weather is nice and there are places for all budgets.
A web site to get you started planning....or for further investigating is called Romantic Things to Do in San Diego.

Go to Pensacola, a town on the northwest tip of Florida, and spend time relaxing at the Gulf of Mexico. Beautiful white sand beaches.
Then check out New Orleans for Cajun cuisine and live jazz.
Congrats and have an awesome time together!
