Okay...I could not disagree more, however I am apparently in the minority. So I am not going to choose a best answer, I will leave it to voting.
My position was that as someone who lives in my own head as it is, to not have music, voices, nature sounds...to not hear would be torture for me. I could have the voices of my loved ones describe the world too me, but to live in a soundless world would be claustrophobic and sad to me.

I would rather be deaf. Sometimes the music and noise is too loud and so I would rather not be able to hear. But I would like to see where I am going If I had the choice.

That's easy. Deaf. It is certainly an easier handicap to deal with and if you do think so then next time a blind person is stopped at an intersection asking aloud for help with directions from pedestrians it will hit home.
