You need a CD-R or CD-RW to burn CDs. A CD-R will only burn. A CD-RW will burn and re-burn CDs if they are formatted for rewriting.

To burn a cd, you need both a drive that can write to CD-R / CD-RWs and a CD-R or CD-RW. Just remember, CD-Rs are one shot and cannot be overwritten, while CD-RWs can be overwritten again and again.

Either or...a CD-R is ONE TIME and a CD-RW, you can add more files to it more than once as long as you don't finalize the disc.

anything with a r in it. as well as a burner that works with that media. Check what your burner's manufacturer recommends.
