The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, which was opened for signature in 1968 and ratified by the U.S. Senate two years later, has been signed by 188 countries.
The United Nations enforces the treaty. Not the U.S. The U.S. is pressing the U.N. to enforce the treaty against Iran to ensure it does not create nuclear weapons.
Countries that had nuclear weapons at the time of the treaty were permitted to keep them. Besides the U.S., the other countries permitted nuclear weapons are France, China, Russia (former Soviet Union), and the United Kingdom. The other countries that signed the treaty agreed not to create them.
Iran and Iraq both signed the treaty.
India and Pakistan, both of which are known to have nuclear weapons, have not signed. Israel also has not signed, and has not confirmed whether it has nuclear weapons or not. North Korea has withdrawn its signature.

Anyone who threatens and has an unstable mind like Ahmednijenead should not have weapons of anykind, let alone nuclear.
It is not who determines who should have them - it is the consensus of nations in the world (U.N.) that say Iran should not have them.
The people in middle east have not shown the world that they can conduct their affairs in a peaceful manner. If they can take a plane to blow up two towers, they can do irreperable damage to the world by blowing up a city anywhere or in USA.
They are soooooooooooooo unstable. They are mad people. They cannot have a weapon like nuclear. They just do not have the scruples to use it.
All it takes is for Pope to quote someone else that made a comment about Islam in the 14th century and the unstable bunch will burn churches and kill nuns and threaten Pope's life. Can you imagine what will happen if they had nuclear weapons? They will blow up vatican. These guys are cookoo bananas.
A man who has a screw loose, drunk and with a gun in hand will definitely kill. That's who Ahmedinejad is.

Clearly we did not initially - the USSR, China and India all developed them without our permission and in the case of the first two led us into 35 years of cold war.
Rhetorically who would you give the authority to? the UN? Let any crackpot country have them?
We have clearly arrived at the least worst answer today.

All world affairs are controlled by the secretive, elite Illuminati. They run this world like they are some kind of holy gods over us. America has served their agenda well of being the sole super power. Our time is coming to an end though, as world war 3 draws near.

We did have them first and we have managed not to use them offensively. Meaning, we aren't threatening our neighbors with wiping them off the map.
By the way, most of the nations of this planet don't want iran to have them either including the U.N.
Any country that makes a threat like that should not own nuclear weapons.

The US as thousands, Israil has hundunds Iran and iraq has none
To have peace in the middle east iran must be the next to be invaded. You remember the scuds iraq fired at Israil in the first gulf war.

ok so ur solution would be to roll over and let everyone in the world have nukes, real smart!...
U.S. shouldnt have nuclear weapons either, no1 should, nuclear technology was created as a means of energy, not destruction, and thats how it should stay!
