There is this girl at school and I like her a lot....as a friend! Anyway, we talk and we laugh about stuff together, but only in the classes we are both in together. See, she is popular and her friends don't like me for some reason...I mean, she is really nice and she is not stuck up. But, I do want to be her friend..not just a classmate. I don't think it would sound right if i told her that i really liked her as a friend and if we could be friends. what do you think? Should i just start talking to her more?

If this is high school then it will be somewhat tough. You can attempt and find a common ground to your advantage in class. such as a project, a reason to work together. see, class will be the reason for hanging out outside of class. such as a project or something. then go from there and use your charm and make it happen.

if you are older then simply find a common interest and invite her one on one to the planned event. eventually she will introduced you to her friends if she likes you because she will want to combine both friends.

I had a situation like that before it was like part of the cinderella story you know ther is the dad and the step mom and the daughter and the step sisters and you cinderella and the dad are best buds and the step mother and sisters are nice just as long as the dad is around then the dad dies one day and then the cinderella is all the sudden treated like dirt well similar sitiuation I had best friend she had friends who didn't like me she died of brain tumor they treated me like dirt. I then went to a different school I 'm not saying your friend will die leaving you with mean girls but do try to become friends with her and just enjoy her company. try not to be bothered by the others the other mean grls I dealt with now make me hate to cry and very emotionaly detached. it really helps deal with critsizm. good luck please answer my question.

Where do you get that her friends don't like you? Have you ever come around them or tried to talk with them? I hate that misinterpretation by people. I'm sure you've never made an effort & you've come up with them not liking you on your own. It would be weird if you asked her to be your friend or told her you wanted to be friends. Becoming friends just happens. Just be you, in class & outside of class. Let it work out on its own with you making more of an effort to be social outside of class......

Be careful about picking your friends, and always remember the definition of a friend, by two explanations, Websters and the Biblical definition. If she is your friend, then so be it, and it shouldn't matter to you or her whether "her friends" like you or not. You said you liked her a whole lot. Just be yourself. Sounds as though she is a friend. Time will tell.

Sure, talk to her more. Tell her how you feel , if she is your friend it will all work out. You'll never know till you give it a shot. Good luck!

Ask her if she wants to go hang out at the mall or see a movie sometime.

No hurt in asking. She may be worried about her apperence if her friends really dislike you that much, but the worst she can do is say no.

I think if you are very clear you could ask her to spend time out of school.
