It is a hard sponge and it does produce tons of tiny bubbles that your goldfish will love swimming through, the only problem is that it won't work without being hooked up to an air pump

You might have to connect it to a pump as it sounds like an air stone from your description. You connect it to a pump to oxygenate the water in the tank.

Aeration will truthfully be ok for the tank. the advantages to including a bubbler of any kind (stone, dish, tube) is that it will develop the exterior section the place oxygen meets water, somewhat increasing the gas replace to help upload oxygen on your tank water. Plus..they provide the impact of being quite intense high quality :)

You must care for your fish alot. Its nice of you to buy them something that helps them. You have to attach it to there air pump and they will have a great time. Well done for looking after them so well

I think it is either supposed to produce oxygen bubbles slowly, or let off food over a few weeks. x

you have to attatch it to an air line. If it still doesn't work, then your pump may not be powerful enough.
