I'm making this decision strictly based on musicianship, but I believe Flea is the better and more versatile bass player. The others aside from Les Claypool don't do much improvisation.

In my opinion and from what I heard of this style of music I'd go with Flea as the best technical player. But Bernard Edwards will always be my favourite just for the "Good Times" riff taken off by a lot of people: Sugar Hill Gangs "Rapper's Delight" the most famous example.
