I'm going to "report abuse" on this question. Hehe. Wow, like all other questions that spark my interest, i gave it a good 30 seconds before the child inside me cried, stomped its feet, and I moved on not looking back. The thing I can't get over is the wording of this question. Either punctuation is missing or there's an extra word, or....something.....I just can't figure it out. Maybe that's not even the right path to follow on attacking this question but....Sheesh. All I gotta say is if I saw this question on the back of a cereal box, some morning before school while growing up, my head would have just popped. Right there at the breakfest table with my cinnamon toast cruch and everything. I figure you know the answer anyway and are just doing this for shitts; if that's the case, we're online bro. The answer is on Wiki or google or something. What, like people actually sit and think? Heh, this is America. God bless us. Aight, lata.

I'm assuming that when you say opposite, you mean the additive inverse:
x - 18 = 5(-x)
x - 18 = -5x
-18 = -6x
3 = x

is it neg 72? neg 72 minus 18 = neg ninety, the opposite of positive, and is five times the opposite
